Kardamo is located in Kalamata, in the historic district of the old railway station — a culinary neighborhood experiencing rapid growth and increased visitor interest from both domestic and international tourism. Known for its consistent quality and authentic flavors, the restaurant sought to redefine its identity in a way that would more clearly reflect its philosophy.



The goal of the rebranding was to highlight Kardamo’s evolution from a traditional “meze” tavern into a modern destination for creative cuisine and comfort food. The new brand identity was designed to communicate a sense of quality, consistency, and warmth — three key attributes that mirror the restaurant’s menu and overall experience.




The logo draws inspiration from two fundamental elements of cooking: the ladle and the pot. Through their visual fusion, the design subtly references the cardamom seed — a direct nod to the restaurant’s name and its culinary character. The result is a bold yet approachable symbol, instantly recognizable and highly adaptable across all applications.









The logotype is based on uppercase slab serif typography with strong serifs and clean geometry. This typographic approach recalls traditional signage, while conveying a timeless sense of hospitality and authenticity — aligned with the welcoming atmosphere of the space.
The project received a Nomination Award at the Hiiibrand International Design Awards 2018 in the Logo Professional category.
